The conference focused on the most recent methods, trends and megatrends within the simulation area. In addition to the two key-note speakers the participants will be given a chance to attend a number of workshops held by specialists in the field of ”Healthcare Simulation” from all over the world.

This course contains the A3 workshop: Reflective practice: Enhancing engagement and expanding knowledge and evidence by Gisela Van Rensburg (D Litt et Phil, RN, FANSA) Professor, Department of Health Studies, University of South Africa (UNISA).

The workshop is designed for nurse leaders, nurse educators, clinical facilitators and other nurse practitioners to equip them with knowledge and skills to engage in and facilitate reflective activities. Participants in the workshop will be guided in applying reflective activities in a systematic way of integrating knowledge and experience with continued learning. Reflection assists with continually improving our outcomes by practising by choice, not chance and is a way of thinking about our actions and responses in order to change future actions and responses.

Therefore, an understanding of reflective practice enhances the transformative elements of reflection and effectively integrates those elements into our day-to-day functioning and evidence-based practice.

The workshop aims to address reflective practice as a way to engage with the self and others, and reflection as a teaching and learning activity, management tool and practical action that could assist in effective actions, personal growth and lifelong learning.
